I was there. Me and a mate had followed them from the 3rd round, been to Villa Park to see the semi so had to go to the replay then on to the final.

Simply one of the very, very best periods of my life. The Devonshire goal in the replay was absolute fucking class. Didn't have tickets for the semi or the replay, just got there early both days and scored off touts.

The final of course - magical.

Still gives goosebumps watching either game on u-tube etc.

1980, where the fuck has the time gone and how the fuck have we gotten to where we were in those days to where we are now.

Happy, happy days.

Yarm'

Mate that was the thick end of 40 years ago ffs
Where did that go?
Where did football go?
At least we had it though, could win the CL now and it would not be what that was then and what it meant

Happy happy days, again

Re: West Ham v Everton , FA Cup Semi-Final replay, Elland Road, 1980
Yeh, our lot was there. Unbelievable night.
They thought only 2,000 West Ham was gonna go up there. Couldn't ave got it more wrong.
We was in the side bit. Devo class goal. Everyone going mad.
Then the scousers going bananas when latchford scored.
Cue frank and everyone going loopy and complete scenes when the whistle went. Trying to get over the fences on the pitch.

(one of our lot got nicked BEFORE the game for lobbing a bottle at the scousers outside a boozer on the way. He missed the lot the poor bastard!!). He was with us in spirit (gold watch prob!).

And yeh, where the fuck ave the years gone.

'appy days indeed.

Yep I was there and what a night it was, the only spoiler was the old bill at the station who decided they wanted to gallop their fucking horses into us, got back to London in the early hours and had brekkie in a cafe near a market but I can't recall which one

I was there.

I managed to get onto the pitch at the end.
That's one of only two things I recall from that day.

Remember it like it was yesterday, didn’t have a ticket, got up there early, was tall for my age nearly 15 years old.
Got 2 tickets from a tout, funnily enough, haven’t got a scooby what we paid.

Went to the game with a my mate Gary, he was ST holder Rio stand lower until he packed it in..pissed off, before the last season at UP.

Was a ST holder myself until 1989 when i moved to Sweden, but not in Rio stand, meet up with him every game, even talked to him earlier today.

I haven’t meet him since Cardiff 2006, he went to the 80 final with his dad, who was a somebody to the club..can’t remember what though, his old man got me the Final ticket.

Great days, probably the most care free days I’ve ever had, as a few have said before, where the fuck did that nigh on 40 years go ffs.

My favourite away ever. Remember about six of us going to Villa park without tickets and all got in, some in the Everton end, then five of us got tickets for the replay in the side down by the Everton end. Remember hoping we were going to go through and were hanging on a bit then in the 70th something minute Latchford scored and jumping up on the fence behind the goal with all the Everton fans going mental, thought we were going to lose it then Lampard at the death. Getting back on the train at about 4:30am tubes closed long walk and straight to work.

I remember it well. It wasn't even on the fucking wireless, in Wales. Just the odd update.

It was in the City of Liverpool though, and a Toffees mate of mine spent the whole time in a telephone box, stuffing 2 pence pieces into the phone, so he could listen to said commentary.

I went to the semi at Villa Park.i was 13 I think, loads of my older mates went to replay at Elland Road,we all listened on the wireless,I've obviously watched parts since.
To make the FA Final was a huge achievement back then.
But to beat Arsenal in the final as underdogs was a huge achievement back then.
A day I'll never forget.

WoW like many on here can remember this so well. Packed in like sardines on the lower side enclosure as many have said towards the Everton supporters. Devs goal, Latchford's equaliser, Lampards goal and his 'run around the corner flag' celebration. Should never have gone to a reply I went to the first game at Aston Villa and Everton dead lucky with West Ham better team in that and certainly this second game. Happy days fantastic atmosphere that you never get now being all seated.

The FA Cup final was one of few live televised games back then getting on for 40 years ago.
It was a massive trophy to win back then. The whole country came to a standstill back then.

One of the great nights to be West Ham. Away from the football i'll never forget the train ride home. The luggage rack above our heads was made of a thick netting and one of our lot who was quite pissed managed to get himself up there and use it for a hammock (ish). All of us oraying that he didnt piss himself in his sleep and spray us all.

So glad to have lived thriugh those times,a culture and attitude that has gone forever.

* Terrace culture.

I was there, up there with one of the greatest nights.
Fantastic atmosphere, was in the side close to half way line behind high fencing. When the final whistle went it was mayhem, I climbed the fence onto the pitch for some celebrations with players, when I went to go return back over the fence a copper went for me, trying to smash my bollocks with his truncheon, got back over and gave him the traditional wanker sign (I was 18 with a few beers in me).
I remember it all kicked off in the coach park after.

A funny thing about that clip is at 5:30 when the disabled guy flicks the ball up to half volley back for a goal kick.

Our scouting team would pay £20m for those skills today.
